Approved Curriculum Instructional Resources
The Process
Newly proposed curriculum instructional resources are presented to the Board of Education (BOE) each December by the Office of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. In compliance with Policy 8040: Selection of Instructional Resources, the proposed curriculum instructional resources are displayed for 15 days in the Board of Education lobby and the Central, Miller, and Savage branches of the Howard County Library System following the December Board of Education meeting. The public may review and comment on the proposed curriculum instructional resources during this time. The BOE’s final approval of the proposed curriculum instructional resources occurs at the February or March meeting following the December display of resources.
HCPSS adds the approved resources to the Approved Curriculum Instructional Resources List. Parents, guardians, students, and community members may direct questions about the approved curriculum instructional resources to the Executive Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment.
