Teen Parenting Childcare and Outreach Programs
HCPSS is committed to supporting all students by providing them with programs and resources that address their specific needs and circumstances. To support its pregnant students and teen parents as outlined in Board of Education Policy 9100 Educational Programs for Pregnant and Parenting Students, HCPSS offers two distinct programs— Teen Parenting and Childcare, and Outreach.
Redistricting Process for the 2023-2024 School Year
New High School #13 is scheduled to open for the 2023-24 school year with 1,680 seats. The school is located near Mission Road and Washington Boulevard (Rt 1) in Jessup, within the current Hammond High School attendance area. The communities located in the eastern part of Howard County are most likely to be impacted by this redistricting process. Changes in school attendance areas as a result of this process will take effect beginning the 2023-24 school year.

Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) III
Through the American Rescue Plan (ARP), the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Aid Relief, referred to as ESSER III, the Howard County Public School System has been awarded a multiyear grant to support safe reopening, sustain the safe operation of schools and equitably expand opportunities for students greatly impacted by learning losses from COVID-19 pandemic.

Howard County has a variety of programs designed to complement the systematic and explicit first instruction provided by classroom teachers. Reading Specialists assigned in each elementary school are formally trained to implement a variety of evidence-based interventions that address all five core components of effective reading instruction.
Chromebook Responsibilities
Access to technology devices can open doors to many educational opportunities both during the traditional school day and outside of school hours. When appropriate, HCPSS teachers will continue to use the Chromebooks in innovative ways for lessons and assignments. Information on Chromebook obligations, costs and charging procedures, care and assignments, and reporting a device incident can be found online.
