High School Gifted and Talented Programs

Each high school has one G/T resource teacher and designated G/T content area teachers who coordinate the following program services.

Middle School Gifted and Talented Program

The HCPSS Middle School G/T Program provides advanced-level learning opportunities in academics, visual arts, and music.

Elementary School Gifted and Talented Program

Special curriculum and services are provided by one or more G/T Resource Teachers in every elementary school. General education teachers also provide instruction to allow for accelerated learning in Language Arts and Mathematics.

Gifted and Talented

The Gifted and Talented Program provides accelerated and enriched services for advanced-level learners, as well as talent development opportunities, at the elementary, middle and high school levels.

Digital Education

The HCPSS Digital Education Program enhances traditional instruction with digital content, encourages blended and online instruction to promote anywhere, anytime learning, and provide students with the option to extend learning through advanced and college-level courses.

Key Points in English Language Arts

The Maryland Curriculum encourages students to focus on reading a wide variety of literature, writing effective arguments, performing focused research and growing their understanding of the English language.

Key Points in Mathematics

The K-5 standards provide students with a solid foundation in whole numbers, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and decimals — which help young students build the foundation to successfully apply more demanding math concepts and procedures, and move into applications.
