Learning Together Program

Based on Maryland’s Early Learning Standards, the Learning Together Program (LTP) brings together preschool age students with and without disabilities to develop kindergarten readiness skills. The program enables all young children to play with each other, develop long-term friendships, and benefit from a diverse and stimulating environment.

HCPSS is currently accepting applications for children who are 3 years old on or before September 1, 2026.

LTP is not being offered for four year olds this year. Families with children who are age 4 by September 1, 2026, may wish to consider HCPSS’ pre-kindergarten program.

Eligibility

  • Children must be 3 by September 1.
  • Children are selected based upon space availability.

Hours, Fees, and Transportation

All LTP programs for three year olds are 4 days, 10 hours/week (2.5 hours/day) at the cost of $180.00 per month. (Note: Families of LTP students may be eligible for a fee reduction or waiver based on the household’s current financial needs.)

Transportation is not provided as part of the 3 year old LTP program.

Locations

LTP is offered in early childhood classrooms in elementary schools throughout Howard County. LTP locations vary by each year and are dependent upon space, staffing, and budget approval.

Apply for the Learning Together Program

Families interested in applying for the LTP for the 2026-2027 school year may do so in one of the following three ways:

LTP applications will be processed by HCPSS’ Early Childhood Special Education Office.

If you need assistance completing the application, please contact your home school or Early Childhood Special Education (410-313-7017 or LTPprogram@hcpss.org).

Please note: Applications are timestamped upon receipt. Applications received prior to April 1 will be given priority. Applicants will be notified of their application status once the budget and program locations are finalized prior to the last day of the current school year.
