Technology & Devices

Technology

Seniors and/or any students not returning next school year who wish to keep their Google files must download their Google Drive files before the end of their school year. Their accounts will be deactivated, after which their files no longer will be accessible.

Access to Canvas courses for the 2022-2023 school year will conclude for students and observers at 11:59 p.m. on July 3. At that time, courses automatically will disappear from students’ and observers’ dashboards and any saved links or bookmarks to courses will no longer work.

Devices

HCPSS will be collecting Chromebooks from current prekindergarten (preschool, Pre-K, MINC programs) students before the end of the school year. Students who will be attending the Rising K or Extended School Year (ESY) summer programs may opt to keep their assigned devices over the summer if they do not have a personal device at home.

Any student not returning to an HCPSS school for the 2023-2024 school year should return their Chromebook to their home school on or before the last day of school for students, scheduled for Wednesday, June 14. Grade 12 students attending HCPSS Summer Programs may keep the Chromebook for summer use and return the device to the media specialists at their summer school site by the last day of their summer program.

Any student currently assigned a computer can keep them over the summer as long as they are enrolled next school year. Students assigned a Chromebook and attending a summer program should bring it to the summer program.

Students who will attend a different HCPSS school for the 2023-2024 school year should keep their assigned device and will continue to have access to their Google Drive account.

High School Graduations

The 2023 high school graduations will be held Wednesday, May 24 – Thursday, June 1.

All ceremonies are scheduled to take place at Merriweather Post Pavilion, with the exception of Cedar Lane School, which will be held at that school. Graduations will be available for viewing live online and on-demand following each ceremony, and will be rebroadcast on the HCPSS local cable channel in Howard County (Comcast 95, Verizon 42).

The last day for seniors will be Tuesday, May 23.
