Talbot Springs Elementary School Construction Project
Project Summary and Renovation History
The existing Talbott Springs Elementary School is a one-story building that opened in 1973 with an open classroom design. The school has had two additions and one minor renovation in 2000, 2008, and 2013 respectively. The existing facility is 54,089 gross square feet.
Current Project
The Replacement project will replace the school on the same site with an 88,230 gross square foot two-story facility. The new school is laid out in a “H” shaped configuration with the media center centrally located connecting the single-story administration, gymnasium, and cafetorium wing to the two-story classroom wing. The project addresses the systemic and programmatic needs of the existing school. The existing facility will be removed and replaced by parking lot and athletic fields once the replacement school is occupied.
A continuing emphasis on energy efficient systems and sustainability are incorporated into the design. It is the intent that the design and construction of the building achieve another LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) ‘Silver’ designation.
