Awards and Achievements
Zepp’s students have nominated her the last four years for the National Society for High School Scholars Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction Award, of which she is a three-time recipient.
Zepp has demonstrated success with the summer academic intervention program for incoming ninth-graders and in her own differentiated classes, for which she received a Howard County Public Schools Special Education Advisory Committee Recognition Award in 2014. As a teacher of both AP and differentiated courses in psychology and government, Zepp is passionate about bridging the achievement gap and believes that “students cannot talk about a future until they can see one.”
Zepp has received numerous accolades including the 2014 Washington Post Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher Award for Howard County, the 2014 Howard County Teacher of the Year Award, a 2014 Howard County Public Schools Gifted and Talented Advisory Committee Recognition Award, and the 2013 Hammond High School Teacher of the Year Award. Zepp is a four-time recipient of Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers and a McDonald’s Ray Kroc Teacher Achievement Award winner.
Zepp is a three-time recipient of the Howard County Council Honorary Resolution Award for coaching the Maryland State EconChallenge Championship team for three consecutive years and for coaching CSPAN StudentCam Documentary National Honorable Mention winners.
Zepp earned a bachelor’s in political science with a psychology minor summa cum laude from McDaniel College and a master’s degree in Political Science magna cum laude from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. Zepp’s Maryland State Department of Education Certification practicum and coursework were completed at McDaniel College.
