Student Engagement Programs
As part of the Office of Student Supports and Engagement, Student Engagement Programs are school-based programs that support the vision of HCPSS by providing equitable access to an educational journey using innovative approaches that meet each student’s academic and social- emotional needs as they explore their purpose and passion and acquire the skills and attributes needed to participate as productive members of their communities. HCPSS currently has school-based student engagement programs in 38 schools. All programs provide social emotional learning and executive functioning skill development, as well as academic support with interventions designed for students’ specific needs. Program staff also provide extensive case management services, frequent progress monitoring, enhanced parent outreach, and staff professional learning.
Accessing Services
School Student Support Teams at all levels are responsible for referring students that need the services provided by the Student Engagement Program. Additionally, elementary and middle school Instructional Intervention Teams (IITs) may also refer students when indicated by their response to interventions provided. These teams initiate and implement social-emotional and academic interventions prior to referring a student for Student Engagement Program services and support.
