Good afternoon.

I am Nyshay Battle. I am a sophomore at Long Reach High School and I’m here to talk about the relationship with the Celebration Church.

One of my biggest problems was math class. I didn’t understand it - the teacher was moving too fast. Sometimes in class I wouldn’t pay attention so I wouldn’t know.

And I came to Ms. Grace and she helped me.

She asked me did I want to be in the mentoring program and I said “That’s a good idea.” We met every Thursday 10:15-11:00. We wrote down our goals for next week when we meet again. And we did activities that help sometimes.

It’s really good. I recommend this to a lot of people because it’s helpful. When I have math work sometimes I will wait until Thursday to get help because I know it will be helpful.

It really helps you prepare for your future, like I learned how to communicate. I learned how to ask for help when it’s needed - talk to people about what’s going on and not just hold it in because it builds anger up. And just release all my inner feelings to someone that cares.

When I graduate I want to go to maybe college or trade school. And I want to be a doctor but then I want to be a 911 operator. Maybe a teacher. It prepares you for the outside life of high school. I would recommend all of my friends because a lot of my friends have issues. They go through a lot.

Sometimes when students don’t tell an adult what’s going on something bad happens and I’d rather them be safe than something bad to happen. So, I recommend them to the Celebration Church.
