As part of our fifth and final priority, family engagement opportunities and community partnerships are established to extend learning and supports for students within and beyond the classroom. In total, there is $77,000 in additional costs to support multilingual families and help our schools secure interpretation and translation services more easily and cost effectively. Additional details will be presented during our work session on February 5th.
The primary area we are addressing in this priority is in support of multilingual learners and their families. Some of what could be considered part of this priority was included in the first priority.
- The hourly rate for interpreters must increase to bring us closer to the market rate and keep pace with the districts that surround us. An investment of $67,000 will allow us to increase the hourly rate from $30 to $35 per hour and closer to the market rate – which is approximately $40 per hour.
Altogether, these budget additions for the 2027 Superintendent’s proposed operating budget total $75.5 million dollars of investment in strategic plan priorities, which is more funding than we believe is likely to be able to be provided by the County.
