Our second priority area in the strategic plan uplifts safe and supportive environments where the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral health needs of students are met, and they have equitable opportunities to co-create and shape their experiences.
In total, to support the areas of greatest need in Priority 2, an investment of $2.3 million dollars and 21 new full-time employees would support areas aligned with student belonging and well-being. These positions are primarily Certified Athletic Trainers, School Culture and Security Assistants, and Float Nurses.
Again, I will uplift the highlights contained under this priority, and more details will be presented during our work session on January 22nd.
To address health and safety in our athletics program, 13 positions are included so our student-athletes and visiting student-athletes will have a Certified Athletic Trainer at each of our thirteen high schools.
Additionally, 2 Float Nurses positions were added to support schools when school nurses are absent.
Six School Culture and Safety Assistant positions are proposed in response to continual calls from school staff, particularly in middle schools, to increase staffing dedicated to helping cultivate a positive school culture and maintain safe learning environments.
And here is the continuation of our FY27 budget request.
