By 2029, HCPSS will decrease the percent of unfilled school-based vacancies as of August 30 each year from 17% to 9% of vacancies unfilled--a decrease of two percentage points each year.
Equity commitment
School-based vacancies in special education will decrease at a faster rate, from 24% to 12% as of August 30 each year--a decrease of three percentage points each year.

School-based vacancies have a direct impact on the learning experience of students and the working environment for staff in the building. In addition, school-based vacancies reflect the ability of HCPSS to retain its staff.
How were targets set?
HCPSS aims to decrease vacancies at a rate of 2 percentage points each year, with a higher rate of decrease at 3 percentage points each year for special education vacancies.
