Objective

Increase the percent of professional learning experiences that lead to better teaching

Measure

By 2029, 100% of classroom walkthroughs will indicate implementation of differentiation to promote high expectations and support future-ready competencies. Differentiated instruction takes into account students' knowledge and skills by providing accessible, grade-level content and multiple ways to process information and demonstrate learning.

Equity commitment

HCPSS will disaggregate differentiation implementation scores from look-for tools by school and subject area to ensure equitable access to effective professional learning.

Why was this measure selected?

Currently, data on the effectiveness of professional learning to improve planning and teaching are not consistently collected. This goal will prompt the development of a centralized system for collecting professional learning data, including topics covered and effectiveness information, to allow for continuous improvement in the professional learning opportunities teachers receive and provide feedback on whether these learning activities translate to improved student outcomes.

How were targets set?

HCPSS aims for all professional learning offered to be perceived as effective by staff. However, HCPSS does not currently have a centralized method of collecting feedback on the effectiveness of professional learning. HCPSS will analyze professional learning data, including staff attendance, session feedback, and other variables that together ultimately influence student outcomes. Targets will be determined after collection of baseline data.
