Position Overview

Start your journey in the world of heavy equipment repair as a Heavy-Duty Maintenance Technician Apprentice! In this entry-level role, you’ll assist in the maintenance and repair of motor vehicles, diesel-powered machinery, and construction equipment. Under the close supervision of experienced technicians, you’ll learn how to troubleshoot and service heavy-duty vehicles in challenging environments. This apprenticeship offers hands-on experience working outdoors in all weather conditions and teaches essential skills for a successful career in heavy-duty equipment maintenance. **Here’s what your role will include:**

  • Equipment Maintenance & Repair: Assist in the repair and upkeep of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment, including diesel engines and constru
  • Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Learn how to diagnose mechanical issues, perform routine maintenance, and ensure all equipment operates efficiently and safely.
  • Weather-Related Duties: Be available for duty during hazardous weather or highway conditions to support maintenance efforts and keep equipment in working order.
  • Physical Labor: Perform tasks that require physical exertion, including lifting objects over 50 pounds and working outdoors in varying weather conditions, such as extreme heat, fumes, and exhaust.

The Essentials for Entry

  • Must be in Senior year of high school
  • Submit Application
  • Driver’s License Required
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must have 4 credits available in schedule for Apprenticeship courses, (ex. schedule: 1-4A or 4B, 5, & 6)
  • Class schedule not to exceed 3 credits including required English and Math to graduate
  • MUST HAVE COMPLETED AUTO 1-ARL CAREER ACADEMY

Note: Completion of this apprenticeship program will earn you 3 credits for on-the-job training and 1 credit for related instruction, contributing to your graduation requirements.
