Position Overview

Grow your career in the great outdoors as a Landscape Maintenance Apprentice! In this role, you’ll learn essential skills in plant identification, installation, and the upkeep of trees, shrubs, and landscapes. Working alongside experienced professionals, you’ll help maintain beautiful, functional outdoor spaces while developing hands-on expertise in landscape maintenance. **Here’s what your role will include:**

  • Plant Identification & Care: Learn how to identify different types of plants, trees, and shrubs, and understand their specific care and maintenance needs.
  • Plant Installation: Assist in planting trees, shrubs, and other greenery to enhance residential and commercial landscapes.
  • Landscape Maintenance: Help with regular upkeep tasks, such as mulching, weeding, pruning, and fertilizing to keep landscapes healthy and visually appealing.
  • Equipment Operation: Gain experience using landscape tools and equipment, ensuring proper care and safe handling for all tasks.

The Essentials for Entry

  • Must be in Senior year of high school
  • Submit Application
  • Driver’s License Required
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must have 4 credits available in schedule for Apprenticeship courses, (ex. schedule: 1-4A or 4B, 5, & 6)
  • Class schedule not to exceed 3 credits including required English and Math to graduate

  • Interview with Mead Tree and Turf Care
  • Receive & Accept Employment Offer
  • Complete On-Boarding
  • Complete On-the-job-Training (20+ hrs a week minimum)
  • Complete Related Instruction (4+ hrs a week)

Note: Completion of this apprenticeship program will earn you 3 credits for on-the-job training and 1 credit for related instruction, contributing to your graduation requirements.
