Position Overview

Join one of the most exciting and rapidly growing fields as a Drone Technician Apprentice! In this role, you’ll be part of the Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS) team, which manages cutting-edge drone and robotics programs. As an apprentice, you’ll gain hands-on experience with drone inspections, assist with data analytics using Power BI, and support various projects across the organization. This apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to explore multiple areas of business while learning how drones and robotics improve efficiency and innovation in the utility industry. **Here’s what your role will include:**

  • Drone Inspections: Assist with automating drone inspections, gathering critical data to ensure efficient and accurate assessments.
  • Data Analytics: Use tools like Power BI to analyze trends, interpret data, and provide recommendations for improving operations.
  • Technical Support: Work with the UAS team to manage and maintain drones, ensuring they are ready for deployment across various projects.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Explore multiple parts of the business, learning how drones and robotics support different departments and enhance company operations.

The Essentials for Entry

  • Must be in Senior year of high school
  • Submit Application
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must have 4 credits available in schedule for Apprenticeship courses, (ex. schedule: 1-4A or 4B, 5, & 6)
  • Class schedule not to exceed 3 credits including required English and Math to graduate

Your Apprenticeship Action Plan

  • Interview with BGE
  • Receive & Accept Employment Offer with BGE
  • Complete On-Boarding with BGE
  • Complete On-the-job-Training (20+ hrs a week minimum)
  • Complete Related Instruction (4+ hrs a week)

Note: Completion of this apprenticeship program will earn you 3 credits for on-the-job training and 1 credit for related instruction, contributing to your graduation requirements.
