Position Overview

Step into the world of grooming and style as a Barber Apprentice! In this role, you'll learn the art of cutting, styling, and grooming hair under the direction and mentorship of experienced barbers. From beard grooming to shaving techniques, you'll develop hands-on skills that will set you up for a successful career and possibly entrepreneurship in the barbering industry. **Here’s a look at some of your key responsibilities:**

  • Hair Cutting & Styling: Assist in cutting and styling clients’ hair to suit their preferences, learning a variety of cutting techniques and styles.
  • Beard Grooming & Shaving: Provide grooming services including beard trimming, shaping, and traditional straight-razor shaves under supervision.
  • Customer Service: Interact with clients to understand their grooming needs and ensure they leave with a positive experience.
  • Sanitation & Safety: Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring tools and equipment are properly sanitized and safety guidelines are followed.

The Essentials for Entry

  • Must be in Senior year of high school
  • Submit Application
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must have 4 credits available in schedule for Apprenticeship courses, (ex. schedule: 1-4A or 4B, 5, & 6)
  • Class schedule not to exceed 3 credits including required English and Math to graduate

Your Apprenticeship Action Plan

  • Interview with Barber/Employer
  • Receive & Accept Employment Offer
  • Complete On-Boarding
  • Complete On-the-job-Training (20+ hrs a week minimum)
  • Complete Related Instruction (4+ hrs a week)
  • Complete year 1 of 2 year program

  • People-Person: Enjoys interacting with clients and delivering great customer service to make them feel confident and satisfied.
  • Team Player: Works well with other barbers and follows guidance from experienced professionals.
  • Sanitation & Safety-Focused: Follows all safety and hygiene protocols to keep the workspace clean and clients safe.

Note: Completion of this apprenticeship program will earn you 3 credits for on-the-job training and 1 credit for related instruction, contributing to your graduation requirements.
