Position Overview
Are you ready to begin an exciting career in the HVAC industry? As an HVAC Technician Apprentice, you’ll work alongside experienced HVAC Field Technicians to install, maintain, and repair environmental control systems while gaining valuable skills in refrigeration theory, control systems, and pipe fitting. You'll also build strong communication skills as you interact with customers, vendors, and co-workers. This apprenticeship offers the perfect blend of technical learning and professional growth, setting you up for long-term success in the HVAC field. Take a look at what you’ll do:
- Assist with Installations: Help install HVAC systems in residential and commercial settings, including roof units and indoor systems.
- Maintenance & Repairs: Support maintenance and repairs to keep HVAC systems running efficiently and safely.
- Operate Tools & Equipment: Use hand and power tools to complete HVAC installation and maintenance tasks.
- Customer Service & Compliance: Work with the team to provide great customer service and ensure systems meet industry standards and regulations.
The Essentials for Entry
- Must be in Senior year of high school
- Complete OSHA 10 Training
- Submit HCPSS & HACC Application
- Driver’s License Required
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must have 4 credits available in schedule for Apprenticeship courses, (ex. schedule: 1-4A or 4B, 5, & 6)
- Class schedule not to exceed 3 credits including required English and Math to graduate
Your Apprenticeship Action Plan
- Interview with HACC Contractor
- Receive & Accept Employment Offer
- Complete On-Boarding
- Complete On-the-job-Training (20+ hrs a week minimum)
- Complete Related Instruction (4+ hrs a week)
- Complete year 1 of 4 year program

- Detail-Oriented: Follows safety protocols meticulously and ensures accurate installations and repairs, including maintaining tools and equipment in top condition.
- Team Player: Works well with experienced technicians, supports team efforts on job sites, and communicates clearly with customers about system updates and repairs.
- Physically Capable: Able to handle the physical demands of the job, including lifting equipment, working in tight spaces, and performing outdoor installations in various weather conditions.
Note: Completion of this apprenticeship program will earn you 3 credits for on-the-job training and 1 credit for related instruction, contributing to your graduation requirements.
