Position Overview

Kickstart your career in the exciting field of electrical work as an Electrical Apprentice! This opportunity allows you to gain hands-on experience, work alongside experienced professionals, and earn industry-recognized certifications—all while being paid. Under direct supervision, you’ll assist Journeypeople and Master Electricians with a wide range of electrical tasks, developing the skills needed to succeed in this dynamic industry. Here’s a few things you’ll do as an Apprentice:

  • Installation Support: Assist in assembling, installing, and repairing electrical wiring, fixtures, and control devices.
  • Troubleshooting: Help identify and resolve electrical issues under the guidance of experienced electricians.
  • Safety Procedures: Learn and consistently apply safety protocols when working with electrical systems.
  • Team Collaboration: Work alongside experienced electricians in various settings, including customer locations and buildings.

The Essentials for Entry

  • Must be in Senior year of high school
  • Complete OSHA 10 Training
  • Submit HCPSS & IECC Application
  • Driver’s License Required
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • 5 Available credits in schedule for Apprenticeship courses
  • Must have 4 credits available in schedule for Apprenticeship courses, (ex. schedule: 1-4A or 4B, 5, & 6)
  • Class schedule not to exceed 3 credits including required English and Math to graduate

Your Apprenticeship Action Plan

  • Interview with IECC
  • Complete IECC Math and Reading Assessment
  • Interview with IECC Contractor
  • Receive & Accept Employment Offer
  • Complete On-Boarding
  • Complete On-the-job-Training (20+ hrs a week minimum)
  • Complete Related Instruction (4+ hrs a week)
  • Complete year 1 of 4 year program
