Position Overview

Start your career in property management as a Building Maintenance Technician Apprentice! In this role, you'll work alongside experienced building service technicians to help maintain the physical integrity of residential and commercial properties. From resolving maintenance issues to ensuring safety and cleanliness, this apprenticeship provides hands-on training in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and more. It’s a great opportunity to build practical skills and work toward becoming a full-fledged maintenance technician. Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Maintenance & Repairs: Assist in troubleshooting and resolving maintenance requests related to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and appliance repair.
  • Turnover & Renovation: Help prepare vacant apartments or buildings for new tenants through repairs, upgrades, and improvements.
  • Upkeep & Safety: Maintain the beauty of the property and ensure safety through tasks like snow removal, grounds maintenance, and general upkeep.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with the service and office teams to provide exceptional customer service and ensure the satisfaction of residents and tenants.

The Essentials for Entry

  • Must be in Senior year of high school
  • Complete OSHA 10 Training
  • Submit HCPSS & ABC Washington Application
  • Driver’s License Required
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must have 4 credits available in schedule for Apprenticeship courses, (ex. schedule: 1-4A or 4B, 5, & 6)
  • Class schedule not to exceed 3 credits including required English and Math to graduate

Your Apprenticeship Action Plan

  • Interview with Legend Property Management
  • Interview with Employer
  • Receive & Accept Employment Offer
  • Complete On-Boarding
  • Complete On-the-job-Training (20+ hrs a week minimum)
  • Complete Related Instruction (4+ hrs a week)
  • Complete year 1 of 4 year program

  • Hands-On Learner: Comfortable working with tools and equipment to assist in maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Detail-Oriented: Ensures quality and safety in every task, from small repairs to large projects.
  • Problem-Solver: Capable of troubleshooting maintenance issues and finding effective solutions.
  • Team Player: Works well in collaboration with other technicians and communicates effectively with residents and tenants.
  • Physically Capable: Able to lift up to 50 pounds, use ladders, climb stairs, and work in various weather conditions.

Note: Completion of this apprenticeship program will earn you 3 credits for on-the-job training and 1 credit for related instruction, contributing to your graduation requirements.
