Launch Into Learning Initiative Supports Early Childhood Development

July 24th, 2017

Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) Interim Superintendent Michael J. Martirano joined Howard County Executive Allan H. Kittleman and County Councilmember Mary Kay Sigaty to announce the Launch Into Learning initiative at a meeting of the Howard County Early Childhood Advisory Council on Friday, July 21.

Launch Into Learning is an early learning initiative encompassing resources and supports from various agencies and programs available to all Howard County families with children from birth to age 8. Launch Into Learning will connect parents/caregivers, education and childcare programs, businesses, and county agencies. The Launch Into Learning website has been created to serve as a hub for the community to access information about early learning.

Launch Into Learning is the result of collaboration among the members of the Howard County Early Childhood Advisory Council (HCECAC), which is led by HCPSS and the Howard County Office of Children and Families. The initiative is made possible by the highly effective collaboration between the school system, county agencies, and many other community stakeholders who are invested in early childhood care and education.

Launch Into Learning is a partner with Achieve 24/7, a county initiative aimed at increasing opportunities and breaking down barriers to success for all youth in Howard County.

HCECAC helps ensure that all children have access to high quality early learning and development programs, families have access to resources needed to be effective as their child’s first teacher, and children arrive at school with healthy minds and bodies.
