Camp Attaway Partnership Provides Support for School Initiatives at Jeffers Hill Elementary School

March 29th, 2017

Camp Attaway is partnering with Jeffers Hill Elementary School (JHES) to provide support for various school initiatives. The partnership will be formalized with an official partnership signing on Thursday, March 30, at the Sheraton Columbia Waterside Restaurant in Columbia, Maryland.

Under the terms of the agreement, Camp Attaway board members, staff and parents will support school wellness; science, technology, engineering and math (STEM); and social studies programs such as Wellness Days, Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement competitions, and Simulated Congressional Hearings. Camp Attaway will also attend JHES staff meetings to share strategies for working with students with severe behavioral and emotional challenges. Aligned with Vision 2018, this partnership provides support for students exploring a wide variety of experiences and enhances services that support the well-being of families.

Jeffers Hill Elementary School Principal Pat Shifflett will join Camp Attaway Board President Ken Williams, Executive Director Sue Ann Shafley, and Clinical Director Saul Lieberman to sign the formal partnership agreement at the March 30 event.

Camp Attaway is a three-week summer day camp program for children with emotional and behavioral disorders. Held in Howard County, Maryland, the camp offers a variety of activities designed to ensure a safe, therapeutic and, most importantly, fun-filled days for children, as well as a weekly support and education group for their parents.

The Howard County Public School System’s Partnerships Office has united schools with more than 1,000 businesses and community organizations to enhance the educational experience of Howard County students. Partnerships benefit schools, businesses and the entire community by leveraging the resources of all participants. Partners may commit human or financial resources or other support.
