Students from across Maryland are being honored as part of an initiative by the Maryland Comptroller’s office called the Maryland Masters Award. Howard High School 11th grader Alexia Owusu-Sakyi, Glenwood Middle School 7th grader Cole Iannarino, and Lisbon Elementary School 5th grader Andrew Meissner will be recognized as the Howard County winners during an unveiling ceremony on Monday, April 20 at Glenwood Middle School in Woodbine, Maryland.

The Maryland Masters Award program recognizes Maryland public school students who have displayed extraordinary artistic skills, talents, and a vision for Maryland’s future. During the 2013-2014 school year, 55 students from 19 jurisdictions throughout the state took part in the program.

The Comptroller created the Maryland Masters to ensure that original artworks by K-12 students from each of Maryland’s 23 counties and Baltimore City are on display in the Comptroller’s Office in Annapolis. Each school system contributed one piece of art from three grade levels: elementary school, middle school, and high school.
