Howard County Superintendent Renee Foose Named a 2014 Innovator of the Year

Ellicott City, Md.—Howard County Public School System Superintendent Dr. Renee A. Foose last night was awarded as a 2014 Innovator of the Year by Maryland’s The Daily Record.

The award recognizes Maryland-based professionals and companies across a wide range of industries. Winners were selected for creating new products, programs, services or processes that have helped their companies and communities. Nominees for the award were judged on originality, impact, challenge and value of their contributions. Foose is the only school system leader to be honored this year.

Since assuming the role of Superintendent in July 2012, Foose has spearheaded a new five-year strategic plan, a groundbreaking whole-child model for elementary education, school safety measures, technology advances, and many other innovations.

“Collaboration is at the heart of innovation,” said Foose. “I am privileged to work with extraordinary principals, teachers and staff who passionately and selflessly work to improve the lives of students and communities every day.”

Details on Foose’s selection can be found in The Daily Record’s special publication on its 2014 Innovators of the Year, http://hcpssne.ws/FooseDRInnovatorOTY.
