Physical Education

Physical Education is required for all students from kindergarten through grade nine. The kindergarten curriculum is taught by the student's regular kindergarten teacher. Physical Education is taught by Maryland Certified Physical Education teachers in grades one through nine.

Elementary students receive a minimum of 60 minutes of instruction per week. Middle school students receive a minimum of nine weeks of instruction and, depending on the size of the school, up to 27 weeks. High school ninth graders are required to pass a one semester (half credit) course in Lifetime Fitness to graduate. Physical Education is an elective for grades 10-12 with weight training and conditioning being a popular course.
