Policy 1000 – Civility

The purpose of this policy is to set clear expectations for civil behavior that support a safe, engaging and supportive environment on school property and at school-related activities.

Policy 1010 – Anti-Discrimination

The purpose of this policy is to establish expectations for behavior that promote a safe, engaging and supportive school environment and provide direction for students, employees, and third parties in recognizing and reporting discrimination in accordance with this policy and with local, state, and federal requirements.

Policy 1020 – Sexual Discrimination

The purpose of this policy is to establish expectations for behavior that promote a safe and nurturing school environment and provide direction for students, employees, and third parties in recognizing and reporting sexual discrimination in accordance with this policy and with local, state, and federal requirements.

Policy 1030 – Child Abuse and Neglect

The purpose of this policy is to establish guidelines and monitoring requirements for ensuring that employees and service providers, working in their professional capacities, recognize and report abuse and neglect of children and vulnerable adult students in accordance with the Annotated Code of Maryland as well as state and local mandates.

Policy 1040 – Safe and Supportive Schools

The purpose of this policy is to prohibit any behaviors that interfere with a safe, engaging, and supportive school climate.

Policy 1050 – Tobacco-Free Environment

The purpose of this policy is to specify criteria for the HCPSS to maintain a tobacco-free, smoke-free, and nicotine-free environment, to help prevent the use of tobacco and nicotine products by students, employees, and visitors. The HCPSS also supports cessation efforts, and delineates the consequences for violations of this policy.

Policy 1060 – Bullying, Cyberbullying, Harassment, or Intimidation

The purpose of this policy is to establish expectations for maintaining a safe and respectful school climate and workplace in the HCPSS where bullying, cyberbullying, harassment, and intimidation are not tolerated. This policy also provides standards for identifying and preventing bullying, cyberbullying, harassing, or intimidating behavior, as well as intervening and supporting students and employees who are exhibiting bullying, cyberbullying, harassing, or intimidating behavior or who are targets/victims of bullying, cyberbullying, harassment, or intimidation.
