Update: Technical Difficulties with Parents / Observers viewing courses now resolved
Access to course content and grades has been fully restored to parents/observers.
The rollout of the new interface on April 25 was not the cause of this issue. Rather, the cause was related to a code fix put in place by the Canvas vendor to resolve an earlier reported issue around notifications. Upon hearing of the parent/observer difficulty viewing courses, HCPSS immediately contacted Canvas and stressed the importance of a quick resolution. HCPSS stayed in close contact with Canvas during this time, and are pleased that both issues are now resolved.
Canvas Notifications Issue – Resolved
The issue with parent / observer communications communicated on Feb 25 in the HCPSS.org/Connect post, has been resolved. Parents and guardians who have registered an email address, or cell phone number in Canvas, and set their notification preferences to ASAP, Daily, or Weekly, will now begin receiving course notifications pertaining to: Announcements, Grading, Grading Policy, Assignment Creation, Calendar, and Submission Comment notifications for the students / children they are observing. All other types of notifications are still in development.
