Updated Spectator Limits at Athletics Events and Fine Arts Performances, Feb. 7, 2022

February 7th, 2022

The continuing decline of COVID-19 rates in Howard County and across Maryland have allowed the relaxing of certain mitigation efforts. Howard County Public School System leadership has continually monitored community metrics and spread in our school communities, and subsequently reduced or enhanced mitigation efforts as the health climate has dictated.

Effective Monday, Feb. 7, 2022, the current limits of spectators at athletics contests and fine arts performances will be lifted. The allowable spectator limits at these events will now be 100% of the capacity for the facility, which are posted at each location.

Neither the county nor the state currently has COVID-related limitations to their indoor facility capacities.

While transmission rates in athletics and fine arts have been very low as of late, it is important that all participants and spectators continue to follow mitigation efforts still in place, including universal indoor masking for all spectators.
