Glenwood Middle School Assistant Principal Wins State Award

Glenwood Middle School Assistant Principal Debra O’Byrne has been named the 2018 Maryland Assistant Principal of the Year by the Maryland Association of Secondary School Principals (MASSP). Interim Superintendent Michael J. Martirano and MASSP Executive Director Scott Pfeifer surprised O’Byrne with the announcement at her school on Thursday, October 5.

The Howard County Department of Education is the new home of “Light Cone,” by Greenville, North Carolina artist Hanna Jubran. The 11-foot-tall steel sculpture will brighten the front of the Department of Education through July 2018 as part of the Howard County Arts Council’s (HCAC) 2017 ARTsites exhibition.

Manor Woods Elementary School Named 2017 National Blue Ribbon School

Manor Woods Elementary School was named a 2017 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. The school is one of only six Maryland public schools to receive the nation’s Blue Ribbon award this year.

Board of Education to Hold Regular Meeting, October 17
