HCPSS Student Named 2018 Maryland Geographic Bee Champion

Mount View Middle School eighth-grader Alan Zhang recently won the Maryland State Geography Bee, sponsored by the National Geographic Society. The Maryland Bee took place at the Maryland Public Television studios in Owings Mills on April 6.

HCPSS Students and Staff to Share Their Stories at StoryStrong Live, April 30, 2018

2018 Graduation Ceremony Dates Announced

The Howard County Public School System has announced the graduation ceremony schedule for the 2017–2018 school year. All commencements will take place at Merriweather Post Pavilion, with the exception of Cedar Lane School, which will be held at that school. Parking information is forthcoming and will be posted online when available.

Board of Education Recognizes African Art Museum of Maryland with 2018 Friends of Education Award

HCPSS Students Named 2018 Carson Scholars

March 26th, 2018

Twenty-five HCPSS students in Grades 4–11, who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and humanitarianism, were named Mid-Atlantic Carson Scholars. The scholars will be recognized at the 22nd annual Carson Scholars Fund awards ceremony on Sunday, April 22, at Martins West in Baltimore.

Staff Focus: Lori Miller, ESOL Support Counselor

Growing up, HCPSS ESOL Support Counselor Lori Miller’s dream job was to be a foreign ambassador. In her current role, Miller supports English learners at Long Reach High School, Oakland Mills High School and the Applications and Research Laboratory (ARL), so as she sees it: “I feel that’s what I do now by working with families and students from all over the world.”
