(#2006-2)School System Partners with Howard County Summer
Theatre
The Howard County Summer Theatre is partnering with the
Howard County Public School System to give students an
opportunity to participate in a fun and engaging theatrical
experience during the summer at Mt. Hebron High School.
Through the partnership, the Howard County Summer Theatre
will provide opportunities for students of all ages to
participate collaboratively in a theatrical production via a
variety of activities -- acting, singing, stage crew, set
development, sound production and costuming. High schools
throughout the county will also have use of Howard County Summer
Theatre costumes, scenery, props and other theatre production
materials for their fall and spring drama productions.
Additionally, the Howard County Summer Theatre will
financially support the “Prepare for Success” campaign, a
community-wide program that provides backpacks filled with
school supplies for needy students at the start of the school
year. The school system will recognize the Howard County Summer
Theatre in the Howard County Public School System Educational
Partnerships Annual Report.
Mark Crampton, Howard County Summer Theatre president, and
Tom Sankey, Howard County Summer Theatre director, hosted
representatives from the Howard County Public School System at a
partnership signing on July 6 prior to their dress rehearsal for
"Me and My Girl" at Mt. Hebron High School. Representing Howard
County public schools were Patricia Gordon, Board of Education
member and school system representatives David Brown, Ronnie
Bohn, Tom Payne and Mary Schiller.
