Summer 2018: Free Meals, Summer Learning, Planning for Next Year!

The school year is almost over and families are planning for the summer. Here are a couple things to keep you connected until the 2018-2019 school year begins:
Summer Food Service Program
Running from June 25–August 17, the HCPSS Summer Food Service Program will be available Monday through Friday at five locations:
- Laurel Woods Elementary School, 12:30-2 p.m.
- Talbott Springs Elementary School, 12-2 p.m.
- Harper’s Choice Middle School, 12-1:30 p.m.
- Oakland Mills Middle School, 12-1:30 p.m.
- Howard County Library System East Columbia Branch, 12-1:30 p.m.
- Howard County Library System Central Branch, 12:30-1:30 p.m.
Meals are free for all children ages 18 and under. There are no applications or registration required.
Summer reading lists developed by HCPSS library media specialists and Howard County Library System staff are available for students in all grade levels.
OMMS Summer Library
The Oakland Mills Middle School Summer Library is open in July to all those age 18 and under. Children 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult. The Summer Library will be open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in the month of July from 8:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m., with the exception of Wednesday, July 4.
A+ Student Card
Using their A+ Student Card, students can place holds and check out physical materials, as well as take advantage of all the library’s digital resources.
2018-2019 School Year
The 2018-2019 school year will begin for students Tuesday, September 4. You can view or download the school calendar online. A printed calendar will be sent home with students at the start of the school year. All you need to know for the school year–including bus information, back to school nights, supply lists and more–will be available by mid-August. Enjoy the break!
