Wilde Lake High School Establishes Partnership with Howard County NAACP

The Howard County, Maryland Branch of the NAACP has partnered with Wilde Lake High School to support student academic performance and social-emotional well-being. The partnership agreement was formalized with an official partnership signing on Monday, April 23, at the Sheraton Columbia Waterside Restaurant.

Under the terms of the agreement, the NAACP will collaborate with school staff to develop initiatives and programs that promote academic excellence and self-esteem for WLHS students. NAACP members will serve as mentors for students, support Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) initiatives and provide assistance to families via holiday meals and clothing drives.

Howard County Board of Education Vice Chairman Mavis Ellis; Member Bess Altwerger: HCPSS Chief School Management and Instructional Leadership Officer Frank Eastham; Chief Communication, Community and Workforce Engagement Officer Jahantab Siddiqui; Executive Director of Community, Parent and School Outreach James LeMon; Area 3 Community Superintendent Pat Saunderson; Area 3 Performance, Equity and Community Response Officer Ron Morris and Wilde Lake High School Principal Rick Wilson joined Howard County, Maryland Branch of the NAACP President Willie Flowers, First Vice President Charles Franklin and Secretary Jennifer Jones to sign the formal partnership agreement at the April 23 event.

For 70 years, the Howard County Branch of the NAACP has continued its commitment to motivate youth, guide community and lead the way.

The Howard County Public School System’s Partnerships Office has united schools with more than 1,000 businesses and community organizations to enhance the educational experience of Howard County students. Partnerships benefit schools, businesses and the entire community by leveraging the resources of all participants. Partners may commit human or financial resources or other support.
