HCPSS Offers Online Process to Resolve Parents’ School Concerns

March 1st, 2018

The Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) launched a Formal Concern Form & Process web page to help guide parents, guardians, custodial parents, and students as they seek to resolve school concerns.

HCPSS encourages parents/guardians to first direct their concerns to the person most closely involved at the school level. When an informal process fails to provide resolution, a parent may file a formal complaint and seek review at a higher administrative level. In both processes, the intent is to be responsive to family concerns while protecting confidentiality and preserving the dignity of everyone involved.

The Formal Concern Form & Process page, located on the HCPSS homepage, offers transparency and clarity for community members looking to voice their concerns. The online process was created based on community response to provide an easier, more streamlined process for families.

The Formal Concern Form & Process page outlines informal and formal processes to seek resolution and provides to frequently asked questions.
