HCPSS and Prepare for Success Host School Supply Drive, Through Aug. 18

July 19th, 2017

Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) has partnered with Prepare for Success to provide school supplies to HCPSS students in need. Prepare for Success (PFS) is a school supply drive created to ensure that Howard County students head back to school with the tools they need to succeed. Supplies may be dropped off through August 18.

More than 12,000 children in Howard County qualify for free and reduced lunch—an indicator of poverty. The cost of basic school supplies can present a financial burden to many families in the community. The Prepare for Success school supply drive helps families eliminate that cost and move one step closer to eliminating the achievement gap. Last year, the program served 2,300 Howard County students, about one-quarter of the students with a potential need.

PFS was launched in 2002 and grew into a countywide partnership to serve as many Howard County students in need as possible.
