Bright Minds Foundation Grant Awards Support Classroom Innovation
Posted: June 13th, 2017
Fourteen Howard County public school teachers and staff will receive funding for innovative instructional projects through nearly $17,000 in grants provided by the Bright Minds Foundation.
The Bright Minds 2017-2018 Staff and Teacher grants were awarded by the county’s independent, nonprofit organization that supports education, aspirations and the opportunity to succeed for all students within the Howard County Public School System. Since its inception, Bright Minds has invested over $133,000 in enrichment programs for classrooms throughout the county through its teacher and staff grant program.
Each year, Bright Minds awards grants ranging from $500–$2,000 to teachers and staff for projects that build students’ skills in cultural proficiency, diversity, equity and inclusion; financial, economic, business and entrepreneurship literacy; fine arts; humanities; health and wellness; and information and communications technology literacy.
The grant recipients will be recognized at a Howard County Board of Education meeting this fall. The grants fund projects taking place during the 2017–2018 school year. Full details and a list of the grant awards are available at http://brightmindsfoundation.org/history.php.
