EPA Recognizes HCPSS Healthy Schools and IEQ Achievement

April 21st, 2017

Green and healthy schools are a part of this year’s Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 22. Nothing is more important to the Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) than providing healthy schools for our students, staff and community. I am extremely pleased to share this letter from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recognizing our school system’s success and commitment to implementing best practices for maintaining good Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) in our buildings.

In November 2015, we began a process of improvement with the help of a 33-member committee of stakeholders. Their input helped the school system develop a comprehensive program to address concerns and maintain environmental health and good indoor air quality in our schools and offices. I want to thank HCPSS staff and every member of our community for your support and participation in our daily efforts to ensure all Howard County public schools are the safest and healthiest places to study, learn and grow.

Sincerely,

Dr. Renee A. Foose
Superintendent
