Howard County Mock Trial Team Advances to State Championship

The Centennial High School Mock Trial Team has advanced to the regional round of the Maryland Mock Trial competition. The team is one of only eight remaining contenders vying for the state Mock Trial championship. Centennial is the first HCPSS school to reach the regional round among seven HCPSS teams who competed against students from other school systems over the past three months.

The Centennial High School team is led by captains Hadeel Hamoud and Kayleigh Hasson. Jack Cole, Anjali Gajendiran, Priya Gajendiran, Tara Lanehart, Kristen Lee, Ting Li, Briana Lim, Pujit Mehrotra, Corinna Murphy, Shardul Rakshit, Kunal Roy, Mary Slattery, Fayyaz Zaidi and Judy Zhou make up the rest of the mock trial team. Centennial High School English teacher Kristin Shipp is the team’s coach.

The Centennial defense team will face off against the prosecution team of the Park School of Baltimore. The match will be held at 4:40 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, at the Administrative Office of the Courts in Hunt Valley, Maryland.
