Maryland Governor Larry Hogan welcomed students representing schools from each Maryland jurisdiction for their participation in a collaborative project made possible by the Maryland State Department of Education and the Digital Harbor Foundation. Twenty-four schools worked together to create a 3D-printed topographical map of Maryland.

After learning about Howard County and innovative solutions through 3D design, Longfellow Elementary School in Columbia printed the Howard County piece of the map. Longfellow third-grader Sadie Baker represented the school and the county at the presentation in the governor’s office and installed the Howard County piece into the Maryland map.

To commemorate this statewide project and engaging learning through technology, Governor Hogan presented a proclamation declaring February 23 “Digital Learning Day” in Maryland.
