City on a Hill Community Church Provides Support for Oakland Mills Middle School Families

Oakland Mills Middle School (OMMS) is partnering with City on a Hill Community Church to provide resources and support for students and families. The partnership will be formalized with an official partnership signing on Friday, March 24, at the Sheraton Columbia Waterside Restaurant in Columbia, Maryland.

Under the terms of the agreement, City on a Hill will provide non-perishable food items to help support Oakland Mills Middle School students residing in temporary housing. City on a Hill also will collaborate with OMMS staff to adopt families by providing gift items and meals during the holidays. Members of City on a Hill will participate in school career days by highlighting the benefits and challenges of various careers. Aligned with Vision 2018, this partnership supports the development of intentional strategies to connect directly with families who need additional supports.

Executive Director of School Improvement and Administration Frank Eastham and Oakland Mills Middle School Principal Megan Chrobak will join City on a Hill Community Church Pastor Shane Valenstein to sign the formal partnership agreement at the March 24 event.

Located in Ellicott City, City on a Hill Community Church serves as a place where people can come together as a community in a welcoming environment.

The Howard County Public School System’s Partnerships Office has united schools with more than 1,000 businesses and community organizations to enhance the educational experience of Howard County students. Partnerships benefit schools, businesses and the entire community by leveraging the resources of all participants. Partners may commit human or financial resources or other support.
