National Association of School Business Officials Honors Howard County Public School System with Meritorious Budget Award

February 22nd, 2017

The Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) has received the Meritorious Budget Award from the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) in recognition for excellence in the preparation and issuance of its budget for the fiscal year 2016–2017. This is the third time the school system has been recognized with this award.

The Meritorious Budget Award promotes and recognizes excellence in school budget presentation and enhances school business officials’ skills in developing, analyzing and presenting a school system budget. After a rigorous review by professional auditors, the award is conferred only on school districts that have met or exceeded the program’s stringent criteria.

“This award reflects our school system’s commitment to sound fiscal management and budgetary policies,” said HCPSS Superintendent Renee A. Foose. “I am very proud of the entire Budget and Finance team for earning this acknowledgment.”

The award represents a significant achievement in adhering to the principles and standards of ASBO International’s Meritorious Budget Award criteria, and reflects a commitment to fiscal integrity and high-quality financial reporting.

ASBO International is a professional organization of 5,000 members that provides programs and services to promote high standards of school business management, professional growth, and the effective use of educational resources.
