Stevens Forest Elementary Celebrates Second Consecutive National PTA School of Excellence Award

Stevens Forest Elementary School and its PTA have been recognized as a National PTA School of Excellence for the second consecutive two-year period for their achievement in building effective family-school partnerships.

The School of Excellence award recognizes the strong partnership between Stevens Forest Elementary and its PTA to support student success and continuous school improvement through initiatives such as Parent Champion, International Night and other programs that actively engage families in the school. Stevens Forest was the only Maryland School to earn this distinction during the 2014–2016 cycle, and remains the only school in Howard County and one of four across Maryland to earn the distinction in 2016–2018.

“I am so proud that Stevens Forest Elementary School and the Stevens Forest Elementary PTA have been recognized by the National PTA,” said Howard County Public School System Superintendent Renee A. Foose. “Winning this award twice in a row reflects the strong history of engaging families to support student success.”

As a National PTA School of Excellence, the Stevens Forest Elementary PTA is a key partner for continuous school improvement.

“Having a strong family-school partnership is essential to elevating the educational experience of our children, this is why our PTA works closely with families, teachers and administrators to find new ways to bring our school community together,” said Stevens Forest PTA President Quiana Holmes.

Stevens Forest Principal Ernesto Diaz added, “Families send us their very best on a daily basis, and it is an honor to serve such a devoted school community. When we truly capitalize on the partnership between the school and the community, we help students reach their fullest potential.”

To celebrate their achievements, National PTA presented Stevens Forest Elementary and the Stevens Forest PTA with a National PTA School of Excellence banner. The school and community will held a celebration of the achievement on Wednesday, October 5.
