Drone Camp Students to Demonstrate Building and Flying Skills

July 20th, 2016

On Thursday, July 21, 2016, from 12:30–1:30 p.m., seven fourth- and fifth-grade students will fly drones that they built during the culmination of drone camp.

The camp is part of the HCPSS Black Student Achievement Program, a community partnership between the Howard County Public School System, Heritage Housing Partners Corporation and Forest Ridge Apartments.

In drone camp, students spend 90 minutes per day learning about drone components, basic flying skills, safety, commercial applications, as well as learning about potential future careers in technology, engineering and other careers in the aviation industry. By the end of the camp, students build and fly a drone.

The camp introduces students to science, technology, engineering and math related curricula, and provides a unique STEM opportunity to explore exciting and emerging aerial photography.
