HCPSS Receives School Environmental Health Champion Award

November 30th, 2015

The HCPSS Office of Custodial Services has been honored with the School Environmental Health Champion Award by the Maryland Environmental Health Network. The award was conferred at a statewide workshop on Green Cleaning in Maryland Schools at the Robinson Nature Center on Friday, November 20.

The award acknowledges school districts that have established cleaning programs that reduce or eliminate toxic cleaners. It recognizes leadership in the development of written policies and comprehensive green cleaning programs that comply with Maryland’s new law.

“I’m proud of our entire custodial team for earning this honor, and of all of our students and staff members who take part in ensuring a healthy environment for learning,” said HCPSS Superintendent Renee A. Foose. “This award is validation of our systemwide commitment to environmental sustainability and the well being of students, teachers and staff.”

The Montgomery County Public Schools Division of School Plant Operations also received the award.
