HCPSS Roundtable With U.S. Dept. of Ed. Secretary Duncan

United States Department of Education Secretary Arne Duncan was joined by U.S. Rep. John Sarbanes (D-Md.) and Maryland State Superintendent Dr. Lillian Lowery for a visit to HCPSS’ Ducketts Lane Elementary School on Feb. 18.
Following a visit to a 3rd grade Spanish class, Secretary Duncan and Superintendent Lowery took part in a roundtable discussion on progress in teaching and learning with HCPSS Superintendent Renee Foose and teachers from Ducketts Lane Elementary and Thomas Viaduct Middle School.
The teacher participants were:

- Rachel Edoho-Eket, Ducketts Lane kindergarten teacher
- Katie Erickson, Ducketts Lane Spanish teacher
- Colleen Golden, Ducketts Lane fifth grade teacher

- Rachel Ludlow, Thomas Viaduct art teacher
- Courtney Madden, Ducketts Lane fourth grade instructional team leader
- Lori Mellendick, Ducketts Lane art teacher
- Melanie Poknis, Thomas Viaduct seventh grade science teacher
- Melissa Waggoner, Thomas Viaduct math instructional support teacher
The roundtable was moderated by U.S. Department of Education Teaching Ambassador Fellow Tami Fitzgerald.
