Columbia Town Center Rotary Partners with Bryant Woods Elementary School

September 18th, 2014

Bryant Woods Elementary School is partnering with the Columbia Town Center Rotary to provide students with resources that promote learning, leadership and citizenship. The partnership will be formalized with an official partnership signing Wednesday, September 17 during the Columbia Town Center Rotary meeting at the Sheraton Columbia Waterside Restaurant, 10207 Wincopin Circle.

Under the terms of the partnership agreement, the Rotary will work with BWES staff to provide funding for Scholastic classroom library sets and college and career readiness initiatives. Rotary members also will participate in BWES school activities such as Read Across America Day and Simulated Congressional Hearings. In line with Vision 2018, this partnership provides opportunities for students to explore their interests and promotes college and career preparation.

Howard County Board of Education Chairman Ellen Flynn Giles and Bryant Woods Elementary School Principal Kelley Hough will join Columbia Town Center Rotary President Roger Lerner to sign the formal partnership agreement at the September 17 event.

The Columbia Town Center Rotary Club was chartered in 1982 by a group of dedicated citizens in Columbia and Howard County. Today, leaders lend their hearts and hands to serve Howard County, with the newest members including men and women who are building their careers and the community they serve.

The Howard County Public School System’s Partnerships Office unites businesses and community organizations with schools to enhance the educational experience.

Partnerships benefit schools, businesses, and the entire community by leveraging the resources of all participants. Partners may commit human or financial resources or other support.
