About NEO 2023

New Educator Orientation (NEO) is the kick-off event of the HCPSS Teacher Induction Program. This event is for new hires, including those with experience, who are all strongly encouraged to attend. NEO will be held at Marriotts Ridge High School.

Event Details:

August 14-16 (8:00 - 3:00 - In-Person) All newly hired teachers (general, special and alternative education), related service providers and teachers of the visually impaired and hard of hearing, school counselors, school psychologists, social workers, mental health therapists, as well as GT Resource and Instructional Technology teachers new to the position are strongly encouraged to attend.

New Educator Orientation Schedule at a Glance

Attendees will receive a daily stipend of $100 per day for attending. If you are attending New Educator Orientation and are in need of an American Sign Language Interpreter, email david_alianiello@hcpss.org.

At New Educator Orientation (NEO), new hires will:

  • Begin to establish positive relationships with HCPSS staff who provide support / resources
  • Deepen understanding of effective strategies for creating a positive classroom environment and establishing positive relationships with students
  • Identify and engage in best practices for their program area
  • Become aware of the HCPSS commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

August 9: (8:00 - 3:30 - In-Person): All new special education, related service providers, and teachers of the visually impaired and hard of hearing are strongly encouraged to attend. Details will be shared with new hires by Department of Special Education staff. These designated staff groups can also register for the Aug 14-16 event.
