Elementary Language Arts
The language arts incorporate the
processes of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. In
Kindergarten through Grade Two, students are learning to read
progressing through a developmental continuum that stresses
decoding, including phonics, and basic comprehension. In Grades
Three through Five, students read to learn with an emphasis on
comprehension. This occurs during language arts and in the
content areas of health, math, social studies, and science.
